First, this is a great beach option. 9x9 and folds easily into a small case. I did not get it for the beach exclusively. I have a 10x10 tent which I am going to use for the ground cover. I bought two to guarantee the waterproof. My opinion is that this is thin but made well enough. Probably better for the beach than a wet camping trip but that is why I would recommend two. if you also have a 10x10 tent this is PERFECT as needs no folds and can stake down fully extended!! Priced right also

We go camping and to the beach quite a bit and the grandkids love to play outside but there are usually lots of ants at the campsite and of course lots of sand at the beach. This beach blanket makes a large surface what is cleaned and neat with no dirt, bugs or sand. It comes with steak stew help anchor it because it is very lightweight and the wind will take it away otherwise. Overall this is a great purchase and very useful

Not very water resistant. Placed it on a semi dry/wet grass, wetness over any pressure placed on it. This meant replacing the wet material with an actual tarp.

A lightweight beach blanket that is large and can fold up small? This is it! The search for the perfect beach blanket has been a 15 year old journey. It's only gotten more complicated since I had a child! I don't know if this is actually the answer. Multiple uses and trips and years to the beach will only tell. However, so far, this blanket is ticking off a lot of boxes. First it's supposed to waterproof. We go on a lot of picnics in the summer, but up in PA, the ground is wet in the morning half the time and in the afternoon it's still wet because it does nothing but rain all the time. So, on a sunny day you want to go out and enjoy the grass. Except you can't sit in it. This blanket should fix that. Sometimes things that are waterproof are that for the first 2-3 times and then the waterproof-ness wears off. So time will tell if this remains. Additionally, I like to really lay out on our beach days to the OBX. However, I am 5'10" and finding a blanket that I can actually stretch out on is also rare. But for something that is 9x9! I'm sure to fit, and my son and a couple of his cousins! Lastly, the lightweight feature is a dream! It is so lightweight and folds up small that I often go into my closet, find it and and wonder in the world is this little blue thing all neatly tucked away. I forget it's there! So, throwing this into my beachbag is gonna make that trip so much more fun. I can pack more things and my bag won't be so heavy! YAY! What I don't like is that is plastic-y, so it's not soft and cozy. That's the real downside, so I'm more or less using it as a tarp than a blanket because I want to put down a soft blanket as a barrier. So, the hunt for the perfect beach blanket continues, but my finds are getting better and better!

This plastic mat has beach towel in the description but don't be fooled. This is in NO way a towel. You will not feel warm and cozy if you wrap this around your body. You will not get dry by using this.What you will get is a tarp/ground cover that comes with stakes that you can put on the ground and then lay your cozy beach towels on top.As a tarp, I give it 4 stars because it reminds me of every other tarp I have come across. This one is great for camping and the beach (if you use a tarp) because it is lightweight and can easily fold and be thrown in a bag. Now, if you are like me, you probably won't ever get it back in the bag it came in buuut, who really every can do that. I did not even unfold it and could not manage to simply roll it small enough to put it back in the bag it came in.In short GREAT TARP not a beach towel because they are very different.

My wife got two of these items, this one and a similar but different brand item. My impressions of them are virtually the same. We live a block from the beach and got this specifically for our trips there. It is waterproof--if you put it down on wet grass or wet sand, the dampness won't seep through. When you are finished, the sand shakes right off.This beach blanket simple to clean. When you're done, just give it a couple of shakes, and the sand is gone. It folds down into a small carrying bag, but we just fold ours over a few times and carry it back and forth, as this is quicker and easier, and the blanket doesn't weigh all that much.
